Follow Your Dreams

I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that as one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours...and he will live with the license of a higher order of things. ~ Henry David Thoreau

My wife sent me this quote and I find it resonates with me.  We have been at our dream for a few years now and this coming growing season will see the fruits of our labor, yet it is still just a beginning.  We have so much work and plans for years to come, which a quote from another friend, Dave, says  " Work done man dead!"  So I am still alive and more work to do so that is a good thing.  We ordered most of our seeds for this summer and are now planning our other areas on the farm.  I want a hedgerow of old fashioned roses.  For one this will act as a windbreak for the lavender and also to gather the heady rose fragrance for our own potpourri.  We are ordering our apple trees to add to the 60 trees already in the orchard, honey crisp for those who care.  We will also add a few peach trees and maybe some other fruits.  We spent last weekend cutting wood for the fireplace another order is coming this week and we will be splitting and cutting that too.  We are looking at taking more wood from Shari's woods which would help in the future and we have to plan better for next winter.  We put in more compost bins.  We had the two from summer filled and built two more from old shipping palettes near the horse pasture to collect chicken coop manure and the horse manure along with our kitchen and garden scraps.  This is just the outside activities.  We are also working on indoor projects like reupholstering an antique couch, painting the dining room and working out some of our labeling of products for this years farm markets.  Just another weekend on the farm.
