To Be Thankful

We are getting ready on the farm for Thanksgiving.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Our lovely home and farm, our lavender survived the monsoon rains of 2009.  And even though we had the passing of some dear family members this year we had a lovely wedding and have begun our new life as we have visioned.  With planning for our feast next week complete with free range turkey and homemade fresh from the garden pumpkin pie.  All the vegetables will be from what we produced with our own hands this summer.  As we finish tightening up the house for the winter months that lie ahead we can't help but think of the changes for next year.  What we will plant in our garden, what will we plant with the lavender?  We will have another field of sunflowers we love the look of the purple and yellow together.  We are thinking of growing "baby's breath" to bundle with our lavender.  It looked so beautiful in Shari's wedding bouquet.  I want to plant a windbreak of shrub roses.  Probably rugosa, or old damask or gallacia.  We can then use the dried petals for potpourri.  Always looking ahead.  Thankful for my life, the farm and my wife.  "Life is Good."
