Our Hoop House

As I mentioned in a previous post we have been working on disassembling a hoop house, a green house typically covered in plastic used to raise plants.  It is now residing on our farm and we are in the process of getting it all back together.  Luckily it is going back together easier than it was to take apart, but it is still a lot of work.  The above picture is on our farm in the initial stages of assembly.  I can't help but look at this shape and think an outdoor sanctuary to nature.  I love the shape of the gothic arch which also has the distinct advantage of shedding snow better than the typical rounded arch. For the summer we will be covering it with shade fabric to help our cuttings grow slowly.  By winter it will be covered with plastic to help our young plants weather our upstate weather.  If all goes well by next spring you will be able to buy lovely lavender plants from us here at Purple Dog Farm.
